Commissioning Guide

carton forming and bottom sealing machine

Resolve one decision before you treat a carton forming and bottom sealing machine as a single SKU: is bottom sealing inside the former, a bolted-on tape or glue unit, or a separate machine with its own drive, utilities and SAT? Mixing those architectures in one RFQ hides installed project cost. This guide is a procurement dossier for interfaces, recycled-board trials and conveyor inclusions. It is not an engineering stamp and not a compliance certificate for any listed directive.

Project interfaces: Sample run

Run formed-and-sealed cases on the intended board, including the recycled lot. Record whether the sealer was the quoted unit or a hall spare. Count sealed, square cases after the operator has packed product if packing is in the duty. If the supplier only forms empty cases and tapes them later by hand, that is not a carton forming and bottom sealing machine trial.

Site readiness

Confirm footprint for former plus sealer plus takeaway, three-phase supply for both drives, compressed air, and glue-tank power if hot-melt is used. PLC interface between former and sealer should be named. Work envelope must include tape-roll changes and jam access. Shipping crates, offloading and anchoring remain separate cost lines unless written into the same offer.

Owner acceptance

SAT should state board, size list, remaining manual tasks, and whether sealing and takeaway conveyors were included in the running cell. Spare parts should split former wear pads from sealer knives or nozzles. Training hours for two stations are not the same as one former demo. Owner acceptance is contractual; this guide only lists questions.

Public case-former literature often quotes a mechanical rate such as cases per minute on a named blank. Use that figure only as a unit reminder. Ask the bidder to restate useful output with your operator task and your board. Adjacent equipment (printers, labelers, palletizers) stays out of this RFQ unless you add a line-integration package with its own interfaces and acceptance. Carton Forming Machine Sourcing will keep those packages from being silently assumed.
